This Privacy Policy describes how Darby Bible – Smart Search (the "App"), operated by Silver Pine Systems, handles your information. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our practices.

Information We Collect

The App can be used in guest mode without creating an account. If you choose to create an account, we collect the following:

• Name and email address — required to create an account and send verification and password-reset emails.
• Hashed password — stored securely using bcrypt; we never store your plain-text password.
• Search queries — when you use the intelligent search feature, your query is sent to our server to generate results. We log queries anonymously to improve search quality. Logged queries are periodically reviewed and may be processed by an AI service (OpenAI) to generate search improvements. Queries are not linked to your identity in our analytics pipeline.
• Bookmarks, folders, and reading position — if you are signed in, this data is synced to our server so you can access it across devices. Guest users store this data locally on their device only.

Information We Do Not Collect

• We do not collect your location, contacts, or any other sensitive device data.
• We do not use third-party advertising SDKs or tracking pixels.
• We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties for marketing.
• We do not collect device identifiers or advertising IDs.

Subscriptions and Payments

The App offers optional paid subscriptions (Monthly and Yearly) processed through Apple App Store and Google Play Store via RevenueCat. Payment information is handled entirely by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat — we never receive or store your credit card or payment details. Subscription status (active, trial, expired) is stored on our server linked to your account so we can grant or restrict access to premium features.

Email Communications

We use SendGrid to send transactional emails such as account verification and password reset messages. We do not send marketing emails. SendGrid's privacy policy is available at sendgrid.com/policies/privacy.

Data Stored on Your Device

For guest users, all bookmarks, reading position, and app settings are stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage and are never transmitted to our servers.

Permissions

The App only requests network access so that search requests and account sync can reach our server. The App does not use your camera, microphone, location, contacts, photos, or any other sensitive device capability.

Data Retention and Deletion

You may delete your account at any time from within the App (Settings → Delete Account) or by visiting /delete-account. Account deletion permanently removes your name, email, bookmarks, folders, and reading history from our servers.

Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. It is suitable for all ages. Guest mode is available without any account creation.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
